The Ethical Issues Of E Commerce - 1849 Words

Consumer Rights and Legal Issues in ECommerce E-Commerce is a big business due to modern technology. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the 2015, second quarter estimate for e-commerce retail sales was $83.9 billion. That was a 4.2% increase from the first quarter of the year (2015). With all these business transactions, there are bound to be disputes of some sort. What legislation is in place for online disputes? What ethical issues are there, concerning online dispute resolutions? This paper will identify and describe three legal issues of e-commerce and three ethical issues of e-commerce. I will also identify what legislation already exists and what more can be done to lessen the effects of each issue. The three legal issues I will discuss are: 1. International disputes and jurisdiction, 2. Spam, and 3. Trademark Infringement. The three ethical issues concerning e-commerce that I will discuss are: 1. Developers of online dispute resolution applications, 2. The developme nt of â€Å"big data† capabilities for dispute resolutions, and 3. Location-aware Technology. Since the Internet, and e-commerce, can reach literally across the globe, there is the opportunity to reap a great harvest. But, what if something goes wrong? And, it inevitably will. What law enforcement agency will handle the case? Should the Internet be regulated as a system separately of national laws?
